About Square Up Sports

Sports have always been a huge part of my life. Not only did I play all that I could as a kid, I read all about them too. If I wasn't out on the blacktop pretending to be Magic Johnson or Doctor J, I was reading all about them in Sports Illustrated or in The Sporting News.
As I got older, my list of heroes grew to include sportswriters like Jim Murray, Frank Deford, Peter King, and Rick Reilly. As cable television grew, people like Dan Patrick, Chris Berman, and Bob Ley became appointment viewing for me. All of these people showed me that sports wasn't just about the games, it was the people who played them, how they did what they did, and why. That's why I started Square Up Sports. I wanted to have a discussion about sports - the good, the great, the bad, and the horrible. I want to heap praise on the praiseworthy and question the motives of the criticized. What I think about a subject and how I feel about it might two different things, but I will always try to be fair when I write about both. |
