NFL Power Rankings (9/27/18)
Man, I'm really, REALLY glad I don't bet on NFL football.
Week Two of the NFL season had a great game without a winner, 19 missed extra point/field goal attempts, Ryan Fitz-Magic mania, and an early exit from Orchid Park in Buffalo.
After the opening week in the NFL season, we've seen blowouts in Detroit, surprises in New Orleans, the first opening day tie in 47 years in Cleveland, and a seven hour, eight minute football game in Miami, the longest in history.
If you're an NFL fan, it's easy to overreact after the first week. When you win big, like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did, it's easy to think big things might be in store. When you lose big, like the Buffalo Bills did, it's easy to look forward to basketball season. But as we've seen year in and year out, one great week does not a season make.
Except for you, Buffalo. You guys are toast.
The kids are back in school, the bad baseball teams are playing out the string, and the networks have programmed their new lineups. Yes, at long last, the summer is over. Of course, a quick look at a weather map shows that it doesn't feel like the summer is over for most of the country. But the NFL is back! Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Amazon box season (A.K.A. Christmas) are just around the corner.
